Society + Charity
Our society is a group of individuals who have been brought together to form a family. This family represents our culture, faith and belief in Vodou. It keeps us grounded and helps to guide us when we are in need. When someone undergoes a lave tet (ritual head washing ceremony), we consider them to be a member of our society – even if they later get initiated elsewhere, they will forever be a part of our family. The only thing that’s important is that we’re brothers and sisters who serve the spirits.
Some of our members are – Haitian, Spanish, African, Guyanese, Trinidadian, Cuban, English, Norwegian, New Zealander, Martiniquais, Guatemalan, American, French, ETC. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what color or gender you are: We all have the same blood running through our veins. The spirits choose who they want and when they want them. We are all the children of the spirits!
